The Southeast Missouri Book Tour was a wonderful success. I met many new faces and interesting people along the way, as well as, catching-up with friends I’ve known for years. Each time I return to the place of my childhood memories; I can’t help but feel the energy of youth.
This trip was energizing both on a professional level with the book signings and on a personal level. I gave away more books on this trip than I have in the past. It was so fun to call those who won the various drawings. Each time, I could hear the excitement that comes from winning. It may not have been the lottery, but it is always fun to win free stuff! Regina Tittel and Randy Pogue joined me at different book signings. It was terrific to have another author to talk to when things slowed down. We bounced ideas off each other and simply encouraged one another. Definitely, time well spent! I am grateful to The Ozark Heritage Festival, Country Junction Home Decor, Oasis Christian Bookstore, and Nevaeh Faith Christian Store for hosting the book signings. Your efforts and time are certainly appreciated.
On a personal level, my cousin and I showed my uncle how much we love him by planting 30 flamingos in his yard, along with one 4-foot inflatable flamingo that we bungee corded to his archway. You may think it juvenile… and you would be right. But it was a blast! When I tried to sneak by his place the next morning to take pictures, he said he had already taken pictures and called his grand-daughters. How Cheryl and I managed to sneak over to his house in the dark with flamingos in hand, while giggling like the kids we very much so thought we were, is still a feat worthy of a bit of bragging. Of course, we do clean up our messes, and I must say, it was easier to clean up the flamingos than it was the 300+ forks we stuck in his yard last year. 🙂
One would think that would be enough excitement, but one would be wrong, because we (or maybe it was more me persuading) followed up the adrenaline rush with zip-lining! If you haven’t ever tried it, I highly recommend it! We went to Eagle Falls Ranch in Eminence, Missouri. They have a dual cable zip line, which is super safe. Cheryl had a blast too. Although, I couldn’t get her to run off the platform into midair, she did take that daring step five different times. I made sure she went before me each time because she screamed when she watched me run of the platform. 🙂 It was such a rush! Our guides were fabulous and we can’t wait to go back.
Now that I am back home and winter is fast approaching, my fingers are itching to type out the book that is in my head. My fourth book now has a title, Beyond My Father’s Sins. It is different from the contemporary romances I usually write. This one will be more of an action suspense/thriller. Of course, it will still be relationship driven as my other works are, just much lighter on the romance. It is proving to be quite the challenge… and I love a challenge. Follow me on Facebook to keep up with my progress.
