Finding Home, the sequel to Calling Me Home is coming along smoothly. I’m excited about the way the characters are taking on a life of their own. With the winter snow Nebraska has finally received, I am getting quality time cozied up by the fire to write.
Although, I haven’t worked on my manuscript today, I have been busy with some marketing opportunities. The Romance Reviews will be one year old in March. They will be having many games and prizes all month. Look for my book give-aways for Calling Me Home (e-book) and Torn Hearts (print book). The cover for Calling Me Home will be featured on each page and part of the games. I will also be hosting a live chat! The date is TBA. I’ll let you know as soon as I know. In addition to these, there will be a Q & A for both Calling Me Home and Torn Hearts. Now, what’s more exciting than free books and prizes?
Some of you know that I am planning to travel to Ireland soon. Once the dates are set for that, I will begin scheduling more book signings. And of course, I will let you know about them. 🙂 However, I am cutting back on the number of book signings I do each year. Time will tell if this is a wise choice or not.
I have been reading several books lately. The one’s that stand out are Auschwitz: A Doctor’s Eyewitness Account by Miklos Nyiszli, Tibere Kremer, Richard Seaver and Bruno Bettelheim. This is an emotionally challenging read and has taken me almost a year to get through. I can not read more than a few pages at a time, and I have stopped reading it before bed. The images kept me from falling asleep. I have long been fascinated by WWII, for the heroes that emerged from that great generation. But this book reveals the weaknesses and depravity of those in Europe at the time from the mind of a Jewish doctor.
The other book is Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talkingby Susan Cain. This is an empowering book based on solid research; and for an introvert like me, it is encouraging to read. The book goes into the fallacy of “group-work” and how it can reduce creativity and production. I’m not finished with it yet, but am already learning much.
Last but not least, I will be having a cover design contest soon for Finding Home on Facebook. So, if you want to participate friend me and when the covers go up, simply like the one you want to win. Free autographed books will be the prizes. Again, who doesn’t like free books?
Hope everyone is enjoying January!
